A day of infamy.
*sighs* I just wish we could go back. I'm only 25, and being from a little town just 30 miles south of Canada, I never had the chance to fly commercial before that day. How nice it would be to be greeted by loved ones right out the gate.
3,000 lives lost. Some missing even until this day, 7 years later.
What acts of cowardice. Generation after generation of dealing with enemies that don't want to play by the book, while we try our best not to give in to such tactics.
I could go on and on, but if you've read this my main purpose of remembrance is fulfilled. I could go on and on about a multitude of things that happened that day, but it is all so big you would have to break it up into many smaller chunks.
God bless those lost.
God bless those who lost.
God bless our enemies.
God bless America.
This day just makes me so sad... like many things, it should have never happened.

Are Iraq and Afghanistan The Same War?
Recently on one of the forums I frequent, I made a healthy post in what we like to call the "Podium" section. We have a running discussion about the war on terror and someone with great skepticism said, "I dont get what makes you think Iraq and Afganistan are same war there not . !"
Now grammar aside, because I am no angel either, this was my reply.
"I think they are the same war because Saddam dealt in terror himself. It was his forte and it was how he ran his people. I think dictator is almost synonymous with bully, and high school bullies are by definition terrorists; feeding off the fear of other people. Now obviously that isn't the same degree, but still true to the meaning.
He was a loose cannon. The man's answer to everything seemed to be kill, kill, kill. Even when two of his sons defected to Jordan and they came back; he had them killed. He killed his own people. He simply, ruled with terror.
This all ties into something much bigger though. Until the first Gulf War, or just before, the US was viewed as an ally. After the Gulf War we alienated and suppressed Iraq through trade and no-fly zones. He hated us with a passion for this, but due to Iraq's economy he had no way to strike back directly. So he started to support people who could hurt the US indirectly.
Now I agree Iraq is a quagmire, but I never hear people concerned that we still have troops in Afghanistan, and we've been there longer than Iraq. If that's the case, we still have people in/near Kosovo, or heck even Germany and Japan. Granted there is a volume difference, yes, but we always help rebuild a country after we break them down. Now would not be a good time to change that policy. We already have the bad guys against us, we don't need all the good people in Iraq, or the Middle East for that matter, against us. They are a far bigger number than those currently engaged. Now that, would be a huge blunder.
This is pure speculation, but when I was on a business trip to the middle east, numerous people told me, that in the time before the US hit, they saw many large trucks leaving the country. I mean, we did only give them a year head start. Bush mentioned in a State of the Union Address about taking down the Iraqi government because of their WMD program back in January 2002. A year is alot of time, to move alot of stuff....."

The First Blog
Wow, my first blog. I admit I am usually on top of things when it comes to tech, and though I have had full knowledge of what a blog is for the longest time, I have turned the other cheek. The whole thing seemed silly to me. I mean who cares what I am thinking.
Well, I had a revelation the other day while I was bouncing between Leo Laporte and Chris Pirillo podcasts on my Zune. (Whole 'nother blog about the Zune coming, more specifically the *expletive deleted* software to load it.) Some people might care. I would like to emphasize the word might, because there is so much in the universe, so why me.
Now "why me" is awfully dangerous, and I used it in that "Dark-side of the Force" way only briefly once. I mean the, "why is this happening to me," sense. Within a minute I realized how unproductive it was and realized that you need to pick yourself up, and be a grown-up, and place blame where sometimes it ultimately lies. Sometimes you are in the mall at the RadioShack, because you drove yourself there, and you KNOW you shouldn't be spending any money.
Anyways, I ask why me in a different way. A much more positive way and came up with a few answers. (Yes, I talk to myself, I think everyone does, I'm just man enough to admit it!)
First and foremost I am separated from my family and many true friends. It was a series of hard choices that although I may have asked people their opinions, were decisions I made none the less. I love them all, these were just choices I had to make for myself, and I miss them greatly. For my family, if they are so inclined and they have the time, they are offered a portal into some of the inner-workings of myself.
Though I must add the disclaimer that I do not expect all of my family and friends to read these musings. I am not going to be offended if they don't. Far, far from the truth. I'd like to add another Disclaimer to my friend with the English major; I am not an English major, and my grammar is by far impeccable. Also its the Web, so please excuse net-slang.
I understand that people are busy and that the blog is nothing more than an open electronic diary. One, I am awfully long winded, as you can tell, and two, it might not be someone's cup of tea. When I was very young I remember my dad telling me, "it takes different strokes, for different folks."
Other answers to the question, "why me," lead me to some sort of meditation and psychological benefits. I have taken up meditation from the Meditation Society of Australia, and found the benefits to be manifold, and it leads me to more prayer, but that's another blog. Like a journal, or diary, it's just nice to get things off your chest.
Lastly, heck, maybe someone floats along and they find comedy, insight, or I'll go out on a limb...wisdom. Maybe my ramblings will help someone reflect, or maybe just entertain. Maybe this won't be read at all, but it is the net, and at least I have said my peace.
